Ashante Cushnie

Hi! I’m Ashante Cushnie, and I'm a doula with Fundy Doula Services

located in the Saint John area. I have been in childcare for over 15 years,

providing help to families with support tailored to each family's unique

needs. I provide pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and overnight services to all

of New Brunswick.

I became a doula because I used to see new parents feel lost, especially

those in situations that were different from others. I wanted to find a

resource for them that would help with the feelings of anxiety and

overwhelm, I knew a “one size fits all” approach wasn’t going to help these

families. I began learning and developing new skills, focusing on social and

emotional development, to allow me to provide each family with help that

was made just for them. Fundy Doula Services holds the same goals and

standard as me, allowing me to become that resource for families across

the province.

Through my years working with children I have learned how to teach new

skills, and provide judgment free support to parents and children, helping

navigate difficult situations. I plan to continue learning new ways to better

support families, develop my skills, and uphold the standards of local birth

workers.
